Priorities

Throughout my campaign, I've had the privilege of listening to hundreds of Marshall County residents share their concerns and priorities. From conversations at local events to one-on-one discussions in people's homes, I've heard what matters most to you. These conversations have helped shape my vision for the Department and my priorities as Sheriff.
Every life in our community deserves protection.
Having served in the Detective Bureau for many years and currently supervising it, I understand the critical importance of a well-resourced and highly trained investigative team. Some of the most meaningful work I've done has been investigating cases of child abuse and bringing justice to families in their darkest hours. These investigations have taught me that protecting life, especially our most vulnerable citizens, requires dedication, resources, and an unshakeable commitment to justice.
As your Sheriff, I will continue expanding the Detective Bureau to address emerging crime trends and ensure that every victim receives the thorough investigation they deserve.
When we protect life at every stage, we strengthen our entire community.
I took an oath to defend the Constitution, and I've spent 35 years upholding these principles. As Sheriff, I will continue to honor that oath and ensure the county follows our Indiana and United States Constitution in all of its policies and decisions.
I strongly support the Second Amendment and believe law-abiding citizens have the right to protect themselves and their families. I will never support any effort to infringe upon this constitutional right.
As your Sheriff, I will work cooperatively with federal agencies to enforce existing laws, including immigration enforcement. I believe in the rule of law, and that applies to everyone. When federal partners need local assistance in enforcing immigration statutes, I will support those efforts while ensuring our Department remains focused on public safety and serving all members of our community.
Maintaining the highest ethical standards and professional operations is non-negotiable. I will ensure that our Department operates with transparency, accountability, and adherence to best practices in law enforcement. Professional operations build public trust and strengthen our community's confidence in law enforcement.
My 15 years on the Bourbon Town Council taught me that every taxpayer dollar matters. I've managed budgets, secured grants, and ensured regulatory compliance. These skills are just as critical in the Sheriff's office as they are in local government. I promise to run a professional operation that respects your tax dollars while never compromising on public safety and service.
As President of the Bourbon Town Council during the Stellar Community Designation process, I learned how to strategically identify and secure resources that benefit the entire community. I will bring this same strategic approach to the Sheriff's office, seeking grant funding for training, equipment, and special initiatives that enhance public safety without placing an undue burden on taxpayers.
As the Department's current Public Information Officer, I already prioritize clear communication with the media and public. As your Sheriff, I will continue to bring the same commitment to keeping you informed about important public safety matters. An informed community is a safer community.
I've witnessed firsthand the toll that law enforcement work can take on officers and their families. The community has made it clear that mental health support for our officers is essential.
I've lost friends to suicide, and throughout my law enforcement career, I've responded to heartbreaking calls. I've seen the devastating impact on families and our entire Marshall County community. But I've also seen hope. Right here in Marshall County, we have incredible organizations like Dustin's Place that provide free grief support, including specialized groups for those who've lost loved ones to suicide. Our local Suicide and Overdose Fatality Response Team works tirelessly to identify support gaps and prevent future tragedies.
As your Sheriff, I'm committed to protecting every life in our community. That means collaborating with these vital resources and supporting anyone who's struggling. I will also prioritize removing the stigma around mental health.
A healthy workforce makes a stronger department.
Every child deserves a safe and happy childhood. In my 30 years with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department and my 35 years in law enforcement, some of my most meaningful work has been engaging with Marshall County's youth at community events to create connections that help them understand that law enforcement is here to serve and protect.
As your Sheriff, I will remain personally committed to the children of Marshall County. I will support the DARE program and other organizations that educate and support our youth, ensuring they grow up with positive relationships with law enforcement and healthy life choices.
I've learned throughout my career that law enforcement is strongest when it's guided by humanity, understanding, and respect for both fellow first responders and the people we serve. Being an engaged neighbor makes me a better officer and a better Sheriff. Strengthening Marshall County happens one relationship at a time in moments where we connect as people, build trust, and work together to create a community we can all be proud of.
