Endorsements

Throughout my career in law enforcement and community service, I've had the privilege of working alongside dedicated professionals and serving alongside committed community members. The following individuals have endorsed my candidacy based on their personal and professional relationships with me.

I have known Les for over 30 years. We first met in 1993 while I was attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. Les and I spent many years working together in Marshall County with a major part of that time spent in the Multi-County Drug Task Force. As many of you know, in law enforcement, you put your life in the hands of those you are working with and I always knew that Les was a partner I could depend on. You need to know you have a partner that is paying attention and will make the right decision if things go bad, and I always had that confidence with Les.

Toward the end of my law enforcement career, I needed to move my family out of state, and Les offered to help. He took time off work and spent a full week helping me move to Texas. Les McFarland is a man that will be there for you not only professionally but personally. Les has the knowledge, skill, and compassion to lead the citizens of Marshall County as the next Marshall County Sheriff. So on election day, please get out and vote for Les McFarland for Marshall County Sheriff!

- Tom Harley

After over 22 years serving this county in several different capacities, the thing I value most in a Sheriff is someone who stands up for what is right. Les McFarland does that—he shows up in the hard times, holds people accountable, and works to keep this department safe for the community while staying tightly connected to the team.

He was the first one to check in after my surgeries, the first one to reach out after the death of my grandmother, grandfather, sister, and father, and he has made it his mission to strengthen the ties that bind us so we can protect the public together.

He also isn't afraid to bring a mistake to your attention. I've personally been on that end too, but he does it constructively and focuses on a resolution. He leads with integrity, cares for the men on the force, and lives out his faith in a way that guides his decisions.

If you want a Sheriff who goes beyond the badge and truly serves both the force and the community, join me in voting for Les McFarland.

This is my personal endorsement and does not reflect the official position of my department.

- Matthew Brown

When other agencies gave up on pursuing justice for Kandis and Kara, Les didn't stop. He was relentless, and because of his determination, the predator was found, arrested, and convicted.

Our family saw Les's dedication and compassion firsthand. We know this is the same commitment he brings to protecting every citizen. That's why we're proud to say: Vote Les McFarland for Sheriff.

- The Morwood Family

I've known Les for quite some time now! And one of the things I can definitely say about him is that he cares about the community! Anytime I mention doing something with the kids he's all about helping out. I think he stands for good values and I believe he would make a great sheriff! That's who I'm voting for! And you should too!

- Chip Dean, Owner and Head Instructor for Integrity Academy of Martial Arts

Our law enforcement officers have faced tremendous challenges and scrutiny in recent years. The role of policing has changed dramatically, and now more than ever, we need the right leaders with the right experience.

Les McFarland is that leader. He treats everyone with dignity and respect. He is a conservative, fair, and tough individual — the kind of leader we need to guide us into the future.

That’s why I am proud to endorse Les McFarland for Sheriff of Marshall County.

With over 35 years of law enforcement experience — including patrol, drug task force, detective work, and both middle and upper management — Les brings a wealth of knowledge and steady leadership. He is highly respected by his peers and by the communities he serves.

This is a crucial election. Your voice matters — and your vote matters even more.

The primary election will take place on May 5, 2026, with the general election on November 3, 2026.

Vote Republican.
Vote Les McFarland for Sheriff.

- Chris Oginsky, Retired Fire Chief LaPaz-North Township Fire Department

I have known Les for over 20 years. I first got to know him as my neighbor down the road. Les would stop by from time to time, and before he left, he would always say, "If you need anything, just call." He still ends every one of our conversations the same way today, and that's exactly the kind of guy I found him to be. He's always looking out for others.

I believe it was around 2011 when I decided to run for a seat on the town board, and I was blessed to have been able to spend about 10 years working with the people of Bourbon and Les. Working with him on the town board really taught me just how serious he takes his duty as an officer and his duty to the community. He is a natural leader, and he cares deeply about the people of Marshall County and for all of law enforcement. I think Les McFarland would make a great sheriff. He has my vote.

- PJ Hanley

I was with the sheriff department for about 22 1/2 years, and most of the time I spent working with Les McFarland as an undercover operative and as his sergeant on third shift. Les has always been a person that you can count on. He was always there when I needed help whether with a traffic stop or a drug investigation. I think Les would make a great sheriff, and he would work very hard to support the men and women he works with.

- Howard Lamaster, retired First Sergeant Marshall County Sheriff Department

As part of the law enforcement community of Marshall County, I have had the privilege of knowing Les McFarland for over a decade as a mentor, a colleague and a friend. Les sees his role with the Marshall County Sheriff's office as a public trust in which he puts community safety and well-being first. As a law enforcement officer, Les displays a balance of professional competence, integrity, and empathy for others.

In addition to his integrity, Les possesses the ethical and moral qualities of accountability, fair-mindedness, evenhandedness, and respect for the needs and rights of others. Les is considerate of the needs of others, especially victims of crime and vulnerable individuals. In his dealings with others, Les stays calm under pressure, especially in tense and emotionally charged situations.

- Ray Gleason, Veteran, Author, Reserve Law Enforcement Officer

Les, the man who goes beyond the badge. I have personally known Les for over 10 years and as much more than just my husband's boss and lieutenant of the Marshall County Sheriff's Department. The reason why I know him as more is that he makes himself present and available for the community and officers. Les shows up to events, he calls and checks on my husband, an officer of the department, and he is there when needed most. Most importantly, Les loves this community. He engages with the people in this community. He builds friendships and protects those around him at all costs.

Les, your integrity, honor, and love for the people of Marshall County and beyond are priceless. Your heart is in this community for all the right reasons. You protect us, you show up, you give, and you respect us. I can't think of a better man and sheriff to run our Marshall County Sheriff's Department than you! If you want positive changes in our community, vote for Les McFarland on Election Day. Primary Election Day is May 5, 2026.
